-
Disease impact mitigation
- Democracy and good governance
- Youth development
- Education and social services
- Economic development.
As a centre
established to further the cause of National Unity, Peace building and conflict management lies at the core of our
activities. The centre pursues broad based policies and contributes to national and international efforts to ensure
peaceful co-existence. Conflict flashpoints are identified and efforts are directed at their mitigation and eventual
elimination.
Disease
burden remains a sore point in National development efforts. From inception in 1993, the centre has been involved in
advocacy activities and direct provision of health services. The Guinea Worm Eradication Programme, HIV/AIDS and Malaria
Interventions of the centre are widely acclaimed.
Democracy and good government are panacea for peaceful co-existence.
The centre pursues efforts to strengthen and deepen democracy by providing enlightenment and issue based voter
education. The centre has its election observer ship mission which it has deployed in the last 2 general
elections. In the coming years, the centre will take democracy education to schools and colleges across the country so
as to get young people intimately involved in agitating and propagating democratic ideals.
The youth of the nation form a critical mass
of potential resource for leadership and nation building. The centre works with youths across the globe to foster
relationships, promote experiences sharing and to inculcate in them, desirable values that enhances the realization of
their full potentials.
This aspect of the centre’s activities focuses on special issues like education of
nomads, girl child and other peasant populations. The centre is also concerned about supporting efforts to achieve
‘Education For All’ (EFA) targets. Meeting the service delivery needs of local communities in terms of
water which is needed to compliment and support the health of the people is also a major focus of the
centre.
The centre is
greatly concerned about how economic growth is used to reinforce democracy and good governance and to ensure that people
have a measure of good life. The centre therefore focuses of national growth strategies by providing advocacy,
building capacity of operators and strengthening civil society responses to such
initiatives.
