The Yakubu Gowon Centre for National Unity and International Co-operation (YGC) was established in 1992 as an NGO to futher the cause of Nigerian unity.

Corporate Objective
 

The Yakubu Gowon Centre has the following objectives:

  • To promote the cause of Nigerian unity and nation building.

  • To encourage international co-operation, unity and peaceful co- existence and in that regard to institute and administer prizes for distinguished contribution to nation building and international co- operation.

  • To promote and undertake studies, research and publications on issues of national integration and conflict resolution.

  • To collaborate with governmental and non-governmental institutions in applying the findings of the research to the resolution of socio-economic and political issues.

  • To promote excellence in scholarship through the award of grants, fellowships and other forms of assistance to suitably qualified persons, in line with the Centre’s mandate.

  • To organize Sustainable Development Programmes including Health  Promotion, Advocacy and Poverty alleviation within the framework of  national policies.

 

 

 
  The Yakubu Gowon Centre (YGC) for National Unity and International Co-operation was established in 1992 as a private, non-profit making, non-partisan, non-governmental organization (NGO). The Yakubu Gowon Centre was established in honour of General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, former Head of State of Nigeria (1966 to 1975) for his contributions to nation building and the cause of national unity. more...
